AITEANN / GORSE

AG TEACHT GO LUATH

Is minic a fheictear fairsinge an aitinn faoin tuath fud fad na hÉireann, a mbláthanna gealbhuí ag lonrú sna fraochmhánna ar feadh na bliana. Fásann an t-aiteann ar an oileán chomh maith, ach tá dúshlán níos mó ag baint lena bhailiú ná le plandaí eile. Stróiceann sé trí éadaí agus málaí, ach dónn sé go han-tapa agus déanann sé luaith ar mhórán potaisiam. Tá an glónra Gorse forbartha agam leis an luaith sin, agus tá rianta aiteann Oileán Chléire i ngach saothar a ghlónraítear leis. Athraíonn an glónra seo ó phíosa go píosa, go díreach mar a athraíonn baisceanna luatha ó phlanda go planda.

COMING SOON

A typical sight across Irelands countryside are expanses of gorse, their bright yellow flowers lighting up the heathland throughout the year. This stuff is a little more challenging to collect, its thorns rip through clothes and bags, but it burns incredibly fast and provides a potassium rich ash. My Gorse glaze has been developed from this ash, every piece glazed it in containing remnants of the gorse that grows on Oileán Chléire. This glaze varies from piece to piece as the batches of ash I’ve collected varies slightly from plant to plant.
